Three Wilderness Rites of Passages in Western North Carolina this Summer!

I will facilitate an 8  day Wilderness Rite of Passage beginning Friday, May 29th, in the afternoon (eat lunch before arriving) and ending on Saturday, June 6th. This Rite of Passage will include both individual and group time with me for purposes of both healing and preparing you to go out to a wilderness right of passage site for four days and nights with no food and only water to keep yourself hydrated. As a professional healing facilitator with 23 years experience, I will do all that I can to prepare you for your journey.

Undertaking such an endeavor is not for everyone. For those inspired to do this, know that this is a hero’s journey and that you will be invited to face your conscious and unconscious self-limiting fears and issues and move through them. You will need to bring an 9X12 plastic tarp to use for a lean-to shelter, some clothes line rope, a ground pad and tarp for sleeping, a sleeping bag, a water bottle, personal snacks or energy bars, and outdoor clothing that can be layered for heat, cold and rain. Please bring a journal to keep a record of your experiences starting the moment that you decide to participate in this event. Though we will be in the mountains of western North Carolina, the terrain is not difficult and a pair of light day hiking boots should do just fine.

Our meals will be really simple and vegetable oriented. Feel free to bring gentle detox supplements if you like. We will spend Friday and Saturday decompressing and re-orienting to the natural world. On Sunday we will set up individual wilderness sites and then do a purification lodge in the afternoon. After this, each person will go to their site to begin their quest. Though there is no correct number of days to stay out at your right of passage site, the ideal number is four, one for each Sacred Direction. If you come in before that, know that you are to remain in silence until everyone comes in (except when I debrief you).

Though we will only be together for nine days, what transpires before and during your journey will usually predicate your personal path going forward for many months if not years. Part of the process is letting go of the past with its stories and limitations. Part of the process is revelatory in terms of doing and seeing things differently going forward in time and space. Often the realization of what is revealed projects you onto a new and different spiral toward greater clarity and wholeness in your life.
